Slim-line design. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope is a slim-line design that easily wraps around the neck when not in use. It is lighter than an acoustic stethoscope.
Finger-tip Control. All the controls for volume and heart sound or breath sound filters are on the head of the stethoscope making it easy for the user to set the volume or filter.
1. Not all hearing aids will allow the low frequencies of heart and breath sounds to be heard. Heart sounds frequencies range from 20-650Hz and lung sounds from 70-2000Hz. The first and second heart sounds have a frequency of approximately 70-120Hz. Murmurs range from approximately 150-400Hz. Your hearing aid MUST be able to not only hear frequencies in the 100Hz area, but be able to reproduce them. You should discuss this with your audiologist prior to purchasing hearing aid. Cardionics maintains a list of hearing aids that have low frequency characteristics. Drop us an email and we will be happy to send it to you.
2. In general, BTE hearing aids will attenuate and in some cases distort low frequency heart and Korotkoff (BP) sounds. If you have the option of wearing a hearing aid that has an "open fit" and if your low frequency hearing is adequate, we recommend you consider using the E-Scope with headphones, cat. no. 718-7710 or use an ear mold with a vent that can be opened. This set up will by-pass the hearing aid entirely, but allow you to hear heart sounds without attenuation or distortion.
If you wear a BTE (behind-the-ear) type hearing aid, there are three methods that can be used with the E-Scope to allow you to hear heart and breath sounds, Korotkoff and bowel sounds.
The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope, cat. no. 718-7710 or 718-7750, is designed for individuals with in-the-ear (ITE) type hearing aids. Both are supplied with low-frequency headphones that should be placed over the ears. The ITE hearing aids are not removed.
Cat. no. 718-7750 is the same as Cat. no. 718-7710 except a Specialist Adult Bell is included.
The dB level of the E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope is 130 dB SPL. This is approximately 30 times louder than a normal acoustic stethoscope. The difference between the above two models is that cat. no. 718-7750 is supplied with two Specialist Heads (bell and diaphragm) while model 718-7710 is supplied with a Specialist Diaphragm. The Specialist heads are machined from high-grade stainless. They provide a superior frequency input (by 50%) which improves sound sensitivity and they have a heavier feel and less likelihood of outside noise. This is important for a hearing impaired user.
Chest pieces. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope Pediatric model is the same as the E-Scope Clinical model, cat. no. 718-7700, except that it is supplied with a Specialist Pediatric Bell as well as a Specialist Adult Diaphragm and Specialist Adult Bell. This model is also supplied with a pediatric diaphragm.

All the controls for volume and heart sound or breath sound filters are on the head of the stethoscope making it easy for the user to set the volume or filter.Volume control. On the electronic stethoscope head, there is a + and – symbol that allows the user to increase or decrease the sound level very easily. Filter control. A frequency switch for heart sounds (45-900 Hz) and breath sounds (50-2000 Hz). This allows the listener to concentrate on a particular sound Automatic shut off. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope shuts off automatically after two minutes. Automatic volume restart. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope remembers the last volume setting so that when it is turned on, the volume will be set to the previous volume. Off-the-Shelf Battery. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope uses a standard off-the-shelf AAA battery that operates the E-Scope for 4-5 months assuming usage at 30 times per day, 6 days per week. Replacement batteries are available at any supermarket or drug store. Extra ear tips. The E-Scope Electronic Stethoscope is supplied with two additional types of ear tips so the user can select the most comfortable – soft rubber, hard plastic or mushroom type.
Features amplification and proprietary Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) technology. Superior acoustics are combined with digital signal processing – offering recording, storage, and playback capabilities.
The Littmann Electronic Stethoscope Model 4100WS features amplification and proprietary Ambient Noise Reduction (ANR) technology allowing you to reduce ambient noise by an average of 75% (-12dB) without eliminating critical body sounds. Three frequency modes are available for listening to heart, lung, and other body sounds: Bell (20-200 Hz), Diaphragm (100-500 Hz), and Extended Range (20-1000 Hz).
